Lookout Supply, a Columbus-based artist supply shop and gallery space, partnered with 934 Gallery to launch LEGAL WALLS 614, a grassroots initiative focused on creating publicly accessible spaces for artistic expression throughout the city.
Toyhaus studio led the overarching creative direction, campaign, and social media launch strategy, helping shape the initiative’s visual identity, messaging, and rollout experience. Project collaborators included the 934 Gallery Marketing Committee design team: Sharne Lazarus and Jay Hubbard.

Nine local artists created large-scale works and led live painting demonstrations throughout the Arts Festival weekend
“Legal walls” are designated public spaces where artists can paint, create, and express – freely, openly, and without penalty. These spaces provide low-barrier opportunities for artists of all experience levels to experiment and grow their artistic skills. When thoughtfully implemented, legal walls can reduce unauthorized tagging, elevate artistic quality, and foster economic growth. Legal walls function as living galleries, transforming underutilized spaces into cultural landmarks.
The LEGAL WALLS 614 campaign launched publicly at the 2026 Columbus Arts Festival, where nine local artists created large-scale works and led live painting demonstrations throughout the weekend. Across the festival's three day run, artists utilized 300+ cans of spray paint while engaging with an audience of nearly 500,000 festival attendees.
LEGAL WALLS 614 aims to establish a series of open painting sites across Columbus, creating new pathways for creative development and expanding public access to street art. The initiative reflects a vision for Columbus as a vibrant, artist-friendly city that recognizes the value of public art.

934 Gallery is a non-profit, contemporary art gallery in Columbus, Ohio, showcasing local, national, and international artists. 934 Gallery focuses on bringing a fresh perspective to contemporary art through trailblazing exhibitions, installations, performances, and public art projects.
Since 2021, we have offered our services pro bono to the 100% volunteer-run gallery, currently serving as Marketing Committee Chair (Madison) and Creative Director (Ryan).
